Congratulations to those of you who just wrapped up some big deadlines!!!

First and foremost, we hope you’re taking some time off to rest and recharge. We also recommend you take some space to reflect on how busy season went while things are still fresh on your mind. We offer the following questions to help you with this:

  • What worked well?
  • What are you most proud of?
  • What felt hard? Why?
  • What did you learn?
  • Where will you make positive change going forward?

We also hope you are celebrating!!! You have so much to be proud of! Even if things didn’t go as smoothly as you would have liked, we bet you’ve learned a lot these past few months. Tough times usually have the most to teach us, when we’re willing to learn. If you’re struggling to celebrate and need some ideas on how to do so (and why it’s so important!), check out Brian’s blog post, Accountants Don’t Celebrate Enough.

As you rest, recharge and reflect on how the past few months went, we have a question for you: Do you struggle to turn off mentally from your work? Do you find yourself thinking about work, even long after the workday is over?

If you answered, “Yes,” we’re not surprised. You’re not alone.

Over the past few years, we’ve experienced a significant shift in where and how we get work done as a society. Prior to Covid-19, many people had transition time to let go of work and move into life outside of work during the commute home. Now that so many of us are working remotely or in a hybrid environment, that transition time has been lost. Plus, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, many of us stay connected to our work through our devices 24/7. We are simply unable to disconnect from work and reconnect with the rest of our lives.

We see so many accountants struggle to let go of their work mentally, even when they’ve walked away from it physically. Unfortunately, mentally holding on to your work has significant costs. It causes unnecessary anxiety and stress and robs you of your ability to be present for the people and things that matter most to you outside of work.

If any of this rings true for you, and you’re ready to make real change, we’re here to help.

  • Check out our latest episode of Leading Possibilities, where we explore why it’s so hard to let go of work at the end of the day and how to shift your mindset so you can more fully enjoy life outside of work.
  • We’re diving deep into this challenge during the month of November in our I2L Healthy Leaders Community. We’ll help you create a formal shut-down ritual, so you can engage more fully with life outside of work. Join us this month, so you’ll be ready to jump in on November 1! For only $39/month, you can receive the support, accountability and connection you need to be more present in your life outside of work!

When you’re able to turn off from work, you can turn on the rest of your life. You’ll be a healthier and happier leader and human being. What’s stopping you?

See you in the DOP,
